His name is Alfa Alhajji Yinka Umaru, from Kwara State. He deals in car imports from Coutonou. We knew him for years before the scam. Before the scam, he claimed to be a spiritual God fearing person who only had good intentions. We would call him at times to pray for us in times of difficulty. In time we grew to trust Yinka and he would visit our home, even stay over for nights while he was in Lagos. He always reminded us that he was genuine and can do no harm, he would warn us if ever he saw us in a dream to pray or give to alms to the poor. We came to know of his true intentions when we disclosed to him at the time, our intention to buy a Range Rover Sports 08 SUV. We had plans to buy it from a dealership, but since he insisted that he was a reputed dealer with top government and celebrity clients, showing us proof of payments, that we should entrust him with this purchase.

At the time we did not immediately trust him, due to the fact that we gave him a Doge Caravan to sell, a vehicle he has not remitted money to date. After constant pestering and reminders, we felt guilty not to trust someone like him with a huge purchase. At the time Naira traded at 450 to Dollar. We initially paid him 1.8m to start the process of going to Coutonou and making a downpayment on a blue RRS 2008 SUV. Since buying a used car was cheaper in Coutonou, he would go to one of his contacts, make a payment, drive the SUV to Lagos and collect the balance from us to offset the remaining balance.

Alfa Yinka Umaru would use every trick in the book to persuade us to pay the remaining balance while not presenting the car. He would even instruct his cohorts, claiming to be the driver on his way, to call us and request we complete payment immediately. He even had his friends at Nigeria Customs call us to to instruct us to make payment. We insisted that the remaining payment will be made upon seeing the car as was arranged. Till date the care never arrived. After realising that his grift was exposed, he started making threats, claiming spiritual power. We dared him and warned him that if we catch him in our lifetime he will answer to his fraud.

Alfa Yinka Umaru is a charmer and charismatic, he speaks softly and never raises his voice. This is all part of his fraud, to trap you in his facade and cheat you with no remorse.
