ParticipantAbdul Fataih, who also bears the name Shola was employed as a Supervisor at our entertainment venue based in a rurul suberb of Lagos. He started in May 2025 and was paid well for the economy of the time. Problems started to be noticed in September of 2025, when he went againt company policy to rent chairs and tables from a distributor for an event. Being that the employers had experience of this sort of behaviour Abdul was reminded of the policy and allowed to continue work. He however did not like being reprimanded and staunchly slated the company for “accusing” him of wrongdoing. He could not control his tongue and openly insulted the company and its owners: raising his voice to extremes and making threats. We decided we had enough and asked he goes home, ending his contract with the company. This annoyed him even further and he made further threats. However, after an intervention by one of the owners, who believed Abdul was misunderstanding the incident, we decided to continue with his contract after abdul was made to retract his threats and make a full written apology, which he did.
In December things took another turn when police with a warrant raided the company in search of the Supervisor. Abdul was taken away without any explanation of the reason for the arrest. On getting to court jail,
Abdul was called in which he explained that the judge executed a warrant for him after company refusal to show up in court over a matter concerning fumigation. We told him that we have called the lawyer and he should sit tight, that we will get to the bottom of the case and have him freed. However, the court and the judge on the case decided that the mannerism of Abdul was not befitting of his judicious position, and despite opposition from our lawyer, decided to remand Abdul for contempt in Badagry Correctional Facility i.e. Prison. The escalation happened in mere hours and caught everyone unawares.
On calling Abdul, and trying our best to console him, Abdul started making his threats. But the company did not relent on securing his freedom from the shackles of the system. The judge initially adjourned the case for a 14 day break, ensuring Abduls captivity, but after much pleading by company lawyer, relented on a 7 day period. This meant abdul would be enroled into Badagry prison for a minimum of 7 days. With shock and sadness, we all accepted the fate and calls were made to inmate bosses to faciltate abduls detention. After money was paid and a courteos visit was made by the director, the head of the inmate ward gave us his assurance that Abdul would not be harmed in the least. Abdul on the other hand decided decided to use the incident as a platform to carry a grudge. Even in the presence of the director and prison guards, Abdul continued with his threats.
We fully understand that such an incident and how it escalated cannot have been easy to put it lightly. We promised Abdul that we will make the journey to the prison every day until he was released. We lived up to that promise, bringing him food, drinks cleaning products of his choice, puting life at risk, darting through an infamously dangerous road.
Upon his release, through unrelenting pressure from our lawyer, Abdul was totally apathetic, choosing to continue his grudge. Even after much petting by other managerial staff, he was hellbent on causing mayhem. On arrival to the company at around midnight he rejected the idea of seeing the director to plate his annoyance. He wanted to make it clear that he was going to deal with the company. On the 3rd day of his freedom was when Abdul decided to break hell on the director, taunting him openly in the presence of junior staff and customers, promising to close the business down, denigrating the business on it principles, provoking the director to engage in a physical altercation. He left no stone unturned, but to his surprise we were all still trying to pet and console him.
To the surprise of everyone, Abdul then made the announcement that he was leaving the company, and after making his threats went to collect his things. Everyone simply saught closure and just wanted his antics to end as customers were being exposed to something ugly. Abdul was barely searched by security and was allowed to leave.
Upon a search of the room Abdul stayed, we were shocked to find fetish items, charms, black soap, a mirror and black powder littred around. Even written spells were found. It was finally clear why Abdul set out on his journey of hate and disdain. Abdul’s aim, like many employed in the industry, was to employ diabolic means to spiritually attack the owners and lay claim to the company as spoils. It was eventually understood that Abduls prison stint was intended for the director.
And before anyone shpuld say, maybe these things were planted, Abdul corroborated his ownership of the fetish items in threatening messages sent to the director and other managerial staff.
Currently the matter has been reported to the Ijanikin Police station who are investigating and making efforts to apprehend Abdul to explain his nefarious motives.
